Celebrate Christmas 2016 in Brisbane
The city of Brisbane is bursting with Christmas lights, carols, and a series of free festive fun this season.
Lighting of the Christmas Tree – Take the whole family at the King George Square on November 25 to witness Brisbane's tradition. Besides the Christmas tree lighting, there will be carollers and free entertainment from 5:30pm.
Gold Lotto City Hall Light Spectacular – Watch The Night Before Christmas projected onto the City Hall from December 9 to 24. It shows every 15 minutes from 7:30 pm to midnight.
Lord Mayor’s Christmas Carols – Catch some of Australia’s renowned singers as well as musical theatre icons, Opera Queensland stars and international guests on December 10 from 5pm at the Riverstage, Brisbane.
Christmas Parade – Don't miss the merriment as the Christmas Parade is filled with music and entertainment; not to mention, a nativity scene, Santa and his reindeers and dozens of performers. The parade starts at Edward Street to the King George Square every 7pm from December 16 to 24.
The Enchanted Garden – Take a magical journey with the family by exploring Roma Street Parkland's Spectacle Garden. See the spectacular lighting displays up close from 6:30pm to 9pm from December 9 to 18. If you're at the garden early, you can join the Bamboo Lantern making workshop from 3:30pm to 5:30pm.
Christmas Movies in the Park – Enjoy free outdoor movie from December 10 to 16 at the Roma Street Parklands Amphitheatre. The list includes Arthur Christmas, Dr Seuss’ How The Grinch Stole Christmas, Love Actually, Miracle on 34th Street (1947), Elf, Santa Clause, and Search for Santa Paws. Food truck serves at 5:30pm while movie starts at 7pm.
Christmas Beach Cinema – For more Christmas films, head to Streets Beach in South Bank Parklands. Enjoy two Christmas films per night at 6pm and 8pm from December 16 to 23. Enjoy watching Rise of the Guardians, Get Santa, Home Alone, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Miracle on 34th Street, Fred Claus, The Muppet Christmas Carol, I'll Be Home For Christmas, The Santa Clause, White Christmas, The Polar Express, Dr Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Arthur Christmas, A Christmas Star, Elf and Jingle All The Way.
South Bank Christmas Carols presented by Hillsong Brisbane – If you can't get enough of Christmas carol concerts, The Courier-Mail Piazza in South Bank Parklands features performances at 6:45pm and 8:15pm from December 19 to 22.
South Bank's Christmas Markets presented by eatSouthBank – If you want to do some last minute shopping, the Stanley Street Plaza features a festive market on December 19 to 23.
Christmas Fireworks – To complete your magical Christmas journey, don't miss the dazzling pyrotechnics at the Clem Jones Promenade from December 20 to 23 at 7:45pm.
